The Nicholls State Lady Colonels won two of a three-game series against the Central Arkansas Sugarbears this past weekend at Farris Field in Conway, Ark. Nicholls was up for most of the first game, scoring two runs in the first inning. Junior Lyndsay Mesh hit a double, bringing junior Audrey Wood and senior Danielle Clayton through home plate.
Grand slams from Tulane's Sam Honeck and Jeremy Shaffer added to the Colonels' 13-point loss of 15-2 against the Green Wave of Tulane University making it the Colonels third loss in the last four games. "I was very disappointed in the way our guys competed tonight," head Coach Chip Durham said.
Junior shortstop Lindsay Mesh had a game winning 2 RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning during the Colonels' last game against Texas State on March 18 to win the game 2-1. Mesh is playing her first season as a Colonel after transferring from Seminole State Junior College and Okaloosa Walton Community College.
The Colonel track team competed this past Saturday at the Louisiana Classics held at University of Louisiana Lafayette. It was a record setting performance for Colonel track athletes. Junior Rahjanaye Bailey broke the school record in the 100-meter hurdles event with a time of 14.
