I graduated from Nicholls years ago, but I’ve continued to read The Nicholls Worth each week, or at least most of the time. Last year my favorite section was lagniappe because you guys spotlighted students on campus. The lagniappe stories written by your last editor were the stories I looked forward to reading the most. They were exciting, highlited unknown students, and gave us a slice of campus life. It made the Nicholls Worth almost as good as the local newspapers. Yet the Nicholls Worth has neglected to follow his lead and now I see a bunch of wasted space on the pages! Who cares about card games, gambling (which should be in sports now), video games, and tailgating recipes? Who cares about a list of the best movies? Hell, I can read that in any newspaper I want. What’s with the new editor wanting his face on every story he writes? To me, it seems like he’s having an ego trip. My bet is that he is too lazy to look around the campus and find students who make worthy stories that are readable. Everything I see from him is based on food or entertainment. The Lagniappe is terrible this year and The Nicholls Worth needs to go back to what was working, because I sure as hell ain’t reading it anymore this semester. J. Brown Jr.
